Division III singles girls

Scottsdale Prep’s Noelle OhNo. 6 Scottsdale Prep’s Noelle Oh def. No. 1 Chandler Prep’s Sonali Bhalla 6-0, 6-0.

“I played her last season during the regular season and lost to her,” Oh said. “I think playing her this time my nerves weren't as bad, and I was a little more patient and less nervous. I controlled my emotions better this time. This means a lot. I put a lot time into this, so I’m really happy.”—Oh

D-III singles boys

Rancho Solano Prep’s Jaden Litt

No. 1 Rancho Solano Prep’s Jaden Litt def. No. 2 Tanqu Verde’s Joel Hetland 6-0, 6-1.

“I definitely felt pressure this year after winning it as a freshman last year,” Litt said. “I felt it at school today, sitting there. But I was confident in myself. And once the match started I started to feel good and calm.”

D-III doubles girls

Pusch Ridge’s Estelle Fetsis (left) and Emma BartruffNo. 2 Pusch Ridge’s Estelle Fetsis/Emma Bartruff def. No. 1 Scottsdale Prep’s Nandini Patel/Samantha Ferro 7-5, 6-0.

“Mostly, we just stayed consistent. We aren’t the type of people that will get down on ourselves. We keep our spirits up.”—Bartruff

“This is super huge. We’ve been training so hard all season for this. Every practice we’ve just been pushing each other and saying we can take it this year. Like Emma said, we just keep each other lifted up and having fun out there more importantly. We never let anyone bother us and just play our game. That has really worked for us this season.”—Fetsis

D-III doubles boys

Phoenix Country Day’s Jacques Sevrain (left) and Linus Gino-GriffithsNo. 1 Phoenix Country Day’s Jacques Sevrain/Linus Gino-Griffiths def. No. 2 Thatcher’s Braden Huish/Gene Huish 7-6 (7-2), 6-3.

“We have a whole ton of chemistry. I’ve been playing with Linus the longest. We’ve known each other since the fifth grade. We’ve been playing in the junior circuit together. We’ve known each other for so long, so it just clicks when we are on the court.”—Sevrain

“There was some pressure for me since we were the defending champs. I focus on my feet, my legs and my hands, and I just loosen up and it feels great. This feels awesome, but it’s a little melancholy, because I don’t know who I am going to play with next year since Jacque is graduating.”—Gino-Griffiths

D-II singles girls

Notre Dame’s Georgia CranfordNo. 1 Notre Dame’s Georgia Cranford def. No. 2 Canyon View’s Zaria McGinty 6-1, 6-2.

“This is definitely a surreal feeling. My team is here to support me, and it means everything. We had an incredible season. We play Salpointe (Tuesday) at state and hope to keep the ball rolling. I am so grateful for my coaches and grateful for everybody who has supported me. It really means a lot.”—Cranford

D-II single boys

Catalina Foothills' Austin CohenNo. 1 Catalina Foothills’ Austin Cohen def. No. 2 Eastmark’s Grady Callahan 6-1, 6-1.

Last year I was doing online schooling. Two years ago I played doubles my freshman year and won it with my brother. I came back this year because I wanted to win singles. High school tennis is amazing. It’s so much fun, especially with coach Jeffry Bloomberg and all of my teammates. So I wanted to come back and win a title for my school.”

D-II doubles girls

Notre Dame’s Gracie Cranford (left) and Ariana Maestas

No. 5 Notre Dame’s Gracie Cranford/Ariana Maestas def. No. 2 Ironwood’s Sasha Tijore/Sophia Tijore 6-0, 6-4.

“I was not expecting this from the beginning. I wasn’t expecting to win, so I’m excited to be here and very grateful. Gracie and I are very similar, and together we just work well as a team.”—Maestas

“This was my second time winning it but first with Ariana. It was fun getting to know a new player, and we’ve worked really well. I’m excited for the next two years and playing with her.”—Cranford

“The big thing for us is that we’ve always had a lot of chemistry. We’ve known each other for a long time. We are really smart on the court. We know what to do and know what the other person is doing all of the time.”—Totla

“Dinner’s on me, I guess. He saved me on a couple of points. It’s on me. Whatever he wants. I’m going to say Chipotle.”—Gurijala

D-I singles girls

Boulder Creek's Japneet Kaur (left) and teammate Michelle Bullock No. 1 Boulder Creek’s Japneet Kaur def. No. 2 Boulder Creek’s Michelle Bullock 6-1, 6-2.

“I don’t want to be really loud because she’s my partner and I love playing with her. She has like the best forehand ever. If you hit it anywhere she can crush it from anywhere on the court, and it’s going in the court and it’s untouchable. She’s a really great fighter, and has a great serve too.”—Bullock

“It was very difficult to play against my partner. We play together all of the time, and it’s just really fun. What makes her great is her sportsmanship and the way she plays, like her footwork. She’s just awesome. I play doubles with her, and we make a great team.”—Kaur

D-I singles boys

No. 3 Rincon’s Vikram Narendran def. No. 1 Mountain Ridge’s Lincoln Baldonado 7-6 (7-3), 6-1.

“I was down 2-5 in the tiebreaker, and came all the way back. I was like, ‘At this point I’m just going to risk it. I’m all in.’ So I just went for whatever I could, took all of my chances and with a little bit of luck I was able to pull it out.”—Narendran

D-I doubles girls

Xavier’s Danielle Dyer (left) and Belani SotoNo. 2 Xavier’s Danielle Dyer/Belani Soto def. No. 1 Desert Mountain’s Chae Rin Youn/Hannah Fitzgerald 6-3, 3-6, 10-4.

“I think after we lost the title twice in the last three years, the third time was the charm. We had nothing else on our mind but winning from the beginning.”—Soto

“It means everything. It means a lot. We’ve been playing together all four year. We’re like best friends. This feels really good.”—Dyer

D-I doubles boys

Brophy Prep’s Ken Akiyoshi (right) and Ryan ZerbibNo. 1 Brophy Prep’s Ken Akiyoshi/Ryan Zerbib def. No. 3 Hamilton’s Rishabh Bendre/Shravan Pulicherla 6-1, 6-2.

“I played with (former doubles champ) Andre Johnson two years ago and lost in the finals. This year, with Ryan, we were playing great. Being the first seed, it was tough playing with the pressure of having the first seed. But it was great. We did what we could do and had a couple of moments that were super nervous, but we pulled it out. We played our tennis and it was great.”—Akiyoshi

“I think it’s just our chemistry. That’s why we do great. We’ve been playing together all season, and I just think we’ve really grown to be part of each other’s game. We know our plays. We can set each other up super nicely. We just know how to go out there and get the wins.”—Zerbib
