QUARTERFINAL GAME CAPSULES

 

No. 1 Canyon del Oro 8, No. 8 Faith Christian (El Paso) 0

The Dorados scored three runs in the bottom of the first and never looked back: Kiko Romero went 2-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI to help lead the Dorado. Jayden Bracy went 3-4 with an RBI, Dante Schindler went 1-4 with 2 RBI, Codey Juergensen went 2-2 with a double, Andre Oropeza went 1-3 with an RBI, Dominic Felix had an RBI and Simon Lytle had an RBI. Michael Kochanski threw 2.1 innings and Trey Weidner picked up 6 strikeouts in 4.2 innings.

 

No. 2 Blanchard (OK) 9, No. 7 Staley (Kansas City) 4

Staley led 1-0 through three innings but Blanchard scored seven in the bottom of the fourth to pace the team to victory: Jack Kiker went 2-3 with a double and 3 RBI to lead Blanchard and Jerrad Beam went 2-3 with 3 RBI. Bryce Madron had a triple. For Staley, Landon Donaldson went 2-3 with a double and 2 RBI and Tanner Hanke had a double and 2 RBI.

 

No. 6 Casteel 13, No. 3 Saguaro 2

Casteel scored three runs in the top of the first, three more in the fifth and seven in the top of the seventh for the win: Jeff Sanchez went 3-5 with a double and 3 RBI for Casteel, Eli Ludwig went 3-5 with a triple, Jaxx Carrasco went 2-4 with a triple and an RBI, Jared Anderson picked up 2 RBI. Tyler Moore picked up 7 strikeouts. Jack Slominski went 2-4 with a double and 2 RBI to lead Saguaro. Cody Pock went 2-2 with a double, Kai Inouye went 2-4 with a double and Joey Harmon went 2-3.

 

No. 4 Catalina Foothills 5, No. 5 Cactus 4 (8)

Catalina Foothills scored three runs in the bottom of the second but Cactus responded with two in the third and one in the seventh to send the game to extra innings. Cactus took a 4-3 lead in the top of the eight thanks to back-to-back triples from Ernie Romero and Tyler Gearhart but the Falcons plated two in the bottom half of the inning for the win. Chase Gorman was hit-by-pitch with one out and Noah Rojas was walked to put two on for Catalina Foothills. Alec Larson came up one out later and singled to bring in Gorman for the 4-4 tie. Will Parker came up next and he delivered on a walk-off single to bring in Rojas: Jack Reynolds went 2-4 with 2 RBI to lead the Falcons at the plate and Joseph Lanser picked up 5 strikeouts. For Cactus, Hunter Palomino went 2-4 with a double and an RBI and Caleb Cuthbertson went 2-2 with a double and an RBI.
