Mar. 23: Ironwood Ridge & Canyon del Oro

Mady Noble and Mary Shroll finished 7-0 to capture the pairs Open Gold Championship at the CatBox Classic held at Ironwood Ridge High School on Saturday. The Corona del Sol duo also won the tournament last year.

The standouts defeated Haley Carrington and Samantha Drewry of Basha 25-13 in the championship match. The pairs battled back and forth early but Corona del Sol slowly pulled away from a 4-4 tie for the win.

Only a junior, Noble teamed up with current University of Oregon freshman libero Brooke Nuneviller to win the first state pairs championship in AIA history last year. Schroll is a senior and the two are hoping to improve upon their semifinal finish as a team last year in the Division I state playoffs.
