We have reached the point in the year when baseball fans begin to go through withdrawal when their team is eliminated from the playoffs.

If they want to continue to watch baseball, try the Arizona Fall League, made up of six teams and features some of the game’s top young prospects who are just a heartbeat away from earning a spot on a major-league roster.

The league is celebrating its 20th season, and features a handful of players from Arizona high schools.

They are right-handed pitcher Charles Brewer (Scottsdale Chaparral) of the Diamondbacks and Salt River Rafters, right-handed pitcher Cory Burns (Glendale Mountain Ridge) of the Indians and Phoenix Desert Dogs, catcher Dan Butler (Phoenix Greenway) of the Red Sox and Scottsdale Scorpions, outfielder Jaff Decker (Peoria Sunrise Mountain) of the Padres and Peoria Javelinas, and right-handed pitcher Brett Jacobson (Cave Creek Cactus Shadows) of the Twins and Mesa Solar Sox.

Also, Chris Cron is the hitting coach of the Salt River Rafters, based at the new spring facility at Talking Stick in Scottsdale. Cron’s two sons, C.J. and Kevin, were high draft choices by the Angels and Mariners, respectively.

Games are at 12:35 and 6:35 p.m., Monday through Saturday (no games on Sunday).
