Recap - Valley Vista @ Millennium

Surprise Valley Vista entered the game with a 7-and-1 mark, but the Monsoon couldn’t slow down Ruben Rincon and the Millennium offense as the Tigers blanked the Monsoon 36-0 Friday night in Goodyear. Rincon finished 12-of-15 for 236 yards and three touchdowns, all to Kieren Duncan, who ended with four catches for 123 yards. Rincon capped off his near flawless night with a six-yard TD run in the third quarter that made it 36-0.

Lavonte Hatcher rushed for 144 yards and a score on 23 carries for the Tigers, who improved to 6-and-3 on the season and kept their playoff hopes alive. Millennium is now ranked 14th in Division II and seventh in Division II, Section I. The top 16 teams make the playoffs. The Tigers host Willow Canyon this Friday to close out the regular season. The 12th-ranked Wildcats have won four in-a-row to move to 6-and-3.

Valley Vista was limited to just over 100 yards of offense for the game. The Monsoon went three-and-out on three of their first four possessions and totaled just 54 yards at halftime. Trailing 16-0 at the break, Millennium came out and scored on its first possession of the second half to make it 22-0 and the Tigers never looked back. Vista, now 7-and-2, hosts Westview this Friday. The Monsoon are currently ranked 12th in Division I and second in Division I, Section I. Westview is also 7-and-2 on the year and is ranked ninth in Division I.
