Arizona schools ended up with four of the final eight teams trying to win the Platinum Division of the Nike Tournament of Champions girls volleyball tournament Saturday at Court One in Tempe.

5A-I Desert Vista, which won the elite division at last year's Nike TOC, was among the final eight with 4A-I power Sunnyslope, 5A-I contender Hamilton, and 5A-II contender Centennial.

Only two of those four advanced to the semis with Sunnyslope winning 2-0 over The Bishop's  School of La Jolla, Calif., and Hamilton rallying from a game down to beat Clovis West of Fresno, Calif.

Sunnyslope and Hamilton couldn''t overcome the teams that knocked off Desert Vista (La Jolla Country Day of La Jolla, Calif.,) and Centennial (St. Joseph's Academy of St. Louis). Both were beaten, 2-0 --Sunnyslope by La Jolla Country Day and Hamilton by St. Joseph's Academy.

Hamilton was up over St. Joseph's, 24-21, in the second game of their match, but couldn't get game point and fell in the game, 27-25.

La Jolla went on to win the Platinum Division, knocking off St. Joseph's Academy, 25-23, 24-26, 15-10,  in the title match.
