Phoenix Trevor Browne boys soccer coach Jeff Scofield said last week that his team was looking for scoring threats.

Scofield may have found one last week in dramatic fashion when defender Edgar Sotelo stepped into a free kick from about 40 yards that became a highlight reel goal. The ball dipped just under the cross bar and just past Phoenix Maryvale’s goalkeeper during a game last week.

Maryvale was leading 1-0 when Sotelo scored the goal in the 32^nd minute in a game that ended in a 1-1 draw.

At the end of the video, the person who likely recorded the play said in Spanish, “Golazo (great goal).”
