Westwood hosts annual wrestling tourney Friday, Saturday

Westwood High hosts its annual Warrior Classic Wrestling  Tournament on Friday Dec. 10 and Saturday Dec. 11.

Sixteen teams are competing in the dual-format tournament. Participating teams are divided into two pools of eight schools each. The blue pool consists of Corona del Sol, Mesa, Mesquite, Westwood, Pinnacle, Apache Junction, Willow Canyon and Shadow Mountain. The orange pool houses Ironwood Ridge, Safford, Red Mountain, Skyline, Gilbert, Goldwater, Sierra Linda and Casa Grande.

Competition begins Friday at noon as each school plays seven duals with teams in its pool. The first round rounds are Friday with rounds five through seven picking up on Saturday starting at 9 a.m. The eighth and final round is set for 6 p.m. on Saturday with the the No. 1 seeds in each pool vying for the championship. The No. 2 teams also meet for third and fourth and the No. 3 teams for fifth and sixth.
