Corona del Sol dominates Aztecs Duals with seven champions

Corona del Sol enjoyed a weekend at home on the mats with the Aztecs winning their annual Aztec Duals on Saturday.

Corona had seven individual champions in the 12-team tournament and won the team title slipping past La Quinta, Calif, 34-31, in the team-title match. Corona has competed in three invitationals so far this season. The Aztecs finished third in the Warrior Classic in early December and won the Moon Valley Invitational in mid-December.

Leading the way for Corona was the tournament's outstanding wrestler Jason Landrum at 145 pounds. Other Corona wrestlers winning their weight classes: Justin Butler (130); Ethan Tursini (140); Ryan Cox (152); Pablo DeLeon (171); Simon Allen (215) and Steven Rodriguez (HWT).

Other individual champs were: Desert Edge's Sebastian Barrientes (103); La Quinta's George Torres (112), Jesse Calderon (119) and Austin Sapiro (125); Dobson's Ryan Campbell (135); Cody Barriente (160) and T.J. Thomas (189).

La Quinta was second in the team standings, Dobson third and Desert Edge was fourth.
