Mike and Michael Bibby share a celebratory moment after Shadow Mountain's first Arizona state title since 2000.

Unlike his dad, Michael Bibby doesn't get nervous.

The Shadow Mountain (Phoenix) sophomore proved that Saturday by drilling seven 3-pointers en route to a 27-point, eight-assist performance leading his team to an 83-58 Arizona Division II state championship win over Flagstaff at Jobing.com Arena.

Bibby's father is also an assistant coach for Shadow Mountain and was a pretty good player in his own right. Fourteen-year NBA veteran Mike Bibby led Shadow Mountain to the 1996 state title before moving on to Arizona and winning the NCAA title as a freshman.

Dad couldn't have possibly played much better than Michael did Saturday as he added five rebounds. Teammate Carlos Johnson added 26 points and 11 rebounds and JJ Rhymes contributed 17 points and seven rebounds.

Johnson and Rhymes are also sophomores. Shadow Mountain (29-3) might be a state power for years to come, maybe even a national power..

Mike Bibby, whose father is former UCLA great and NBA player Henry Bibby, told Richard Obert of the Arizona Republic: "He seems like he was cooler than me. I asked him before the game, 'Are you nervous?' He said, ‘No.' I got nervous all the way until I stopped playing."

Michael said he won the title for his dad and head coach Jerry Conner, who wasn't present Saturday due to a death in the family.
