Basketball rosters around the state feature many good senior players, and the boys’ and girls’ teams also appear to be in good hands in regard to the future with quite a few strong upperclassmen.
Of the teams I have seen, here are some of the most impressive young players . . .
Boys – Andrew Naderer, Jr., G, Phoenix Arcadia; Larry Lewis, Jr., G, Arcadia; Josh Braun, So., F, Anthem Boulder Creek; Weston Newell, Jr., G, Boulder Creek; Joe Boyd, So., F, Scottsdale Chaparral; Danny Powell, Jr., F, Phoenix Desert Vista; Lejon Johnson, Jr., G, Laveen Betty Fairfax; Cody McDavis, Jr., F, Phoenix Pinnacle; Chris Klima, Jr., G, Pinnacle; Drew Bender, So., G/F, Pinnacle; Stacy Davis, Jr., F, Tolleson.
Girls – Peace Amukamara, Jr., G, Glendale Apollo; Casey Rarrick, Fr., G, Scottsdale Chaparral; Batabe Zempare, Jr., F, Chaparral; Lauren Evans, Jr., G/F, Chandler Hamilton; Kyndall Adams, So., F, Hamilton; Kenna McDavis, So., F, Phoenix Pinncale; Chantel Osahor, So., F, Phoenix St. Mary’s; Shilpa Tummala, Jr., G, St. Mary’s; Cortnee Walton, Jr., F, St. Mary’s; Courtney Ekmark, Fr., G, St. Mary’s; Lillian Southwick, Jr., G, Phoenix Thunderbird.
The state tournament will be here soon, so look for these and other outstanding young players to make an impact.
