Game at arena part of PCDS 50th anniversary celebration

Phoenix Country Day School is celebrating its 50th anniversary, and part of the festivities includes a boys basketball game on Friday (Jan. 28) against Phoenix North Pointe Prep at US Airways Center in downtown Phoenix. Tip-off is at approximately 1:20 p.m.
The game was set up through a deal with the Phoenix Suns that allows teams to play games at the arena in exchange for helping sell tickets to Suns games. There also will be a few middle-school games at the Suns’ practice court, also in the arena.
“We think this will be a fun experience for everyone,’’ said Shane Lewis, Phoenix Country Day athletic director and boys basketball coach. “There is no admission and people can park in the garage on First Street between Jefferson and Jackson.’’
Lewis said the Arizona Diamondbacks also had a similar promotion and that his school played a game at nearby Chase Field.
