The Southern Arizona male and female high school golfers with the lowest adjusted scoring average have been announced. Averages for each competitive round played by each high school golfer were computed and adjusted for the course rating and slope of the courses played.

The Southern Arizona Junior Golf Association (SAJGA) announces that the Southern Arizona high school female golfer with the lowest scoring average was Sydney Colwill, an Ironwood Ridge senior.  The average of all her competitive rounds was 0.581 strokes above the adjusted course rating of the courses she played this season.  The Gary P. Durrenberger Award goes to Canyon del Oro senior Chris Meyers who averaged 0.583 strokes under the course rating.  Chris is the first two-time winner of the Gary P. Durrenberger boys award.  Sydney has signed a National Letter of Intent to play college golf at Memphis while Chris has signed to play at Stanford.

The SAJGA is a non-profit organization that sponsors many golf related activities for Southern Arizona junior golfers.  Affordable lessons, clinics and tournaments are offered year around for juniors ages 6-18.  The SAJGA began administering the Gary P. Durrenberger Award in 2012 when they began sponsoring a corresponding girls award.

Gary P. Durrenberger was a CDO student and golf team member who lost his life in a car accident shortly after his graduation in 2004.  Although not one of the best players on his team, Gary showed a love of the game and life.  The Gary P. Durrenberger Award was started in 2009 and named in his honor.

Past winners of the SAJGA award for high school girls:  2012 Krystal Quihuis (Salpointe Catholic junior), 2013 Krystal Quihuis (Salpointe Catholic senior), 2014 Sydney Colwill (Ironwood Ridge senior).

Past winners of the Gary P. Durrenberger Award for high school boys:  2009 Derek LaPorte (Tucson High senior), 2010 Alex McMahon (Ironwood Ridge senior), 2011 Logan France (Canyon del Oro senior), 2012 Jaime Waltmire (Canyon del Oro senior), 2013 Chris Meyers (Canyon del Oro junior), 2014 Chris Meyers (Canyon del Oro senior).
