Sahuarita sophomore Jordan Frink came out on top with a 3-2 record on the first day of the 26th Annual Marana Mountain View Dual Tournament held Friday. Frink wrestles in the 113-weight class, pulling a close win (5-4) along with two forfeits to set her up for the finals on Saturday.

"I really love the feeling and the rush of competing," said Frink. "It's the most amazing feeling. I'm nervous before I start but I can't explain the rush I get on the mat."

Fink's father, Scott Frink, wrestled in college and Jordan came up with the idea of following in his footsteps in the 8th grade.

"I wanted to try it and he was okay with it," added Frink. "My teammates treat me like one of the guys and the other wrestlers don't seem to mind although I've made a few boys cry by beating them."

Fink, of course, never cries.

"You just have to learn from the losses and keep your head up."

16 teams are taking part in the Mountain View invite, featuring several state champions and numerous state team members including Trey Waltz (Mountain View) and Morenci's Santiago Robledo.

Wrestling will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday with the final matches scheduled in the afternoon.
