In the verified history of girl's basketball in Arizona, very few players have scored more than 2,000 points and that group is sure to grow come Thursday night.

Sydni Stallworth may only be 5-foot-3 but the Tucson Palo Verde senior is about to be a giant according to stats kept by the Arizona Basketball Coaches Association. Adding the 24 she scored against Sahuarita Walden Grove on Tuesday night at home, the guard is at 1,995 points. Just five away.

Once Stallworth reaches that milestone she will need 35 more points to pass former Glendale Independence standout Tanya Green to break into the top 20 of all time. She could go on to break into the top 15 before she is done.

The top mark belongs to former Tucson Catalina Foothills and University of Arizona standout Julie Brase Hairgrove. Her 2,913 career points will probably last several generations. Hairgrove is now an assistant coach with the Phoenix Mercury and is the granddaughter of Lute Olson.

Just missing 2,000 at home, Stallworth will have to travel a few miles down the road on Thursday night when the Titans take on Tucson Santa Rita.

Stallworth was boosted by 752 points last year but it was her freshman season that set the tone. She scored 258 points on a team that featured future college standouts Darian Saunders and Alicia Jones. Both of those seniors were six-foot threats but Stallworth still found her points.

Tucson High junior Alexis Cortez has 1,507 career points and is averaging almost 25 points a game. Cortez is sure to break into the top 10 if she continues on her pace and Kingman junior Desirae Gonzalez has 1,302 career points and she has a shot at 2,000 next year.

Tucson Green Fields standout Olivia Snyder graduated in 2013 with 2,382 career points making her the top scorer as far as "small schools" go.
