On Thursday, the freshman set the Arizona girls basketball state record with 14 3-pointers as part of a 51-point effort. According to ABC-15 television in Phoenix, her warmups hadn't gone well, so the record was a bit unexpected.

"When I was warming up, I actually missed quite a few throws so I thought, man, this is going to be pretty tough," she was quoted as saying in the story.

The record was 10 years old, said ABC-15, and she shoots 200 3-pointers before practice each day.

According to stats supplied to MaxPreps, Gonzales made 18 of her 24 field goal attempts and was 14-for-20 on 3-pointers.

Keep an eye out for her in the coming years, too. Her season scoring average is 17 points per game and she has scored in double figures in 16 of her team's 19 games thus far. Sierra Linda is 18-2 this season, and ranked 15th in Arizona in our Computer Rankings.
