AIA Winter soccer increases to four divisions

The following is a news release from the Arizona Interscholastic Association on the increase in number of divisions in winter soccer.

AIA Winter soccer increases to four divisions

PHOENIX, AZ (1/28/2015) – After reviewing feedback from the membership and with a proposal reviewed and approved by the AIA Executive Board, winter soccer will increase from three to four divisions beginning with the 2015-2016 school year.

As part of this increase, the initial division placements have been updated online.  In girls’ soccer, the number of teams in each division initially will be 27 in D-I, 58 in D-II, 55 in D-III, and 30 in D-IV.  In boys’ soccer, the number of teams in each division initially will be 35 in D-I, 55 in D-II, 46 in D-III, and 42 in D-IV.

Member schools will have until Wednesday, Feb. 4, at 2 p.m. to file an appeal for boys and/or girls should the school feel they would be better suited in a different division.
