Canyon del Oro rehired former coach Keith Francis to take over the baseball program. Francis led the Dorados to a 5A championship over Tucson High in 2002 and left the program with a 115-32 record in 2004.

Francis also coached at Maple Woods Community College in Kansas City, Pima College and the University of Arizona. Some of his former players include Albert Pujols, Brian Anderson and Ian Kinsler.
