Marana Mountain View hired Steve Elmore to take over baseball duties this spring.

Before coming to Mountain View, Elmore accumulated 30 wins at San Manuel including two straight semifinal finishes in the Division IV state playoffs. His 2013 squad was seeded 18th but they took out No. 15 Heber Mogollon, No. 2 St. Johns and No. 7 Oro Valley Pusch Ridge before falling to No. 3 Phoenix Christian.

That magical run, despite only winning eight games before the playoffs started, carried over to last year when he led the Miners to a 19-7 record and that second final four finish. A move to the Tucson area proved to be a perfect fit for Mountain View and Elmore.

"I'm very happy with what I've seen so far," said Elmore on the first day after making his final cuts. "The biggest difference between San Manuel and Mountain View is the skill level from top to bottom. We are still working on getting down to form so I will be able to let you know more about my team in a few days."
