Steve Smith of top-ranked Oak Hill Academy was named Naismith Boys High School Coach of the Year last week. It was the third time he has received the honor in the last seven years.


MaxPreps Xcellent 25 National Basketball Rankings presented by the Army National Guard

1. (No. 1 last week) Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, Va.), 45-0 *
Regular season complete. Expected to be part of the field at Dick's Sporting Goods High School Nationals in early April. An official announcement on that is expected Tuesday or Wednesday.

2. (2) Montverde Academy (Fla.), 28-1
Regular season complete. The two-time defending Dick's Nationals champs are expected to be back to attempt a three-peat.

3. (3) St. Vincent-St. Mary (Akron, Ohio), 25-0
The Fighting Irish are through to the round of 16 in Ohio's Division II state tournament following a 72-51 win over Buchtel (Akron) on Saturday.

4. (4) Cape Henry Collegiate (Virginia Beach, Va.), 31-2
VISAA Division I state champions. The Dolphins are a candidate to continue their season at Dick's Nationals.

5. (5) Wheeler (Marietta, Ga.), 30-2
GHSA Class AAAAAA state champions. The GHSA announced last week that the Wildcats will be permitted to participate at Dick's Nationals.

AIA Division I state champions. Season complete.

GHSA Class AAAA state champions. Season complete.

9. (9) Huntington St. Joseph Prep (W.Va.), 30-2
Regular season complete. Dick's Nationals candidate.

10. (10) Greensboro Day (N.C.), 33-2
NCISAA Class 3A state champions. Dick's Nationals candidate.

No. 11 Plano West beat Clear Lake of Houston at the buzzer to claim the Texas Class 6A state title over the weekend.

12. (12) Findlay Prep (Henderson, Nev.), 28-2
Regular season complete. Dick's Nationals candidate.

13. (13) Wesleyan Christian Academy (High Point, N.C.), 27-5
NCISAA Class 3A runner-up.

14. (14) Bishop O'Dowd (Oakland, Calif.), 25-4
The Dragons meet 28-4 Folsom on Tuesday in the CIF Open Division regional semifinals.

15. (15) Bishop Montgomery (Torrance, Calif.), 31-1
Monster SoCal matchup on deck for Tuesday as Bishop Montgomery meets four-time defending state champion Mater Dei (Santa Ana) in the CIF Open Division regional semifinals.

Mike Lewis pumped in 25 points during a lopsided win as No. 18 Chaminade advanced in Missouri's Class 5 state tournament over the weekend.

16. (16) Mustang (Okla.), 28-0
OSSAA Class 6A state champions. Season complete.

17. (17) Cardinal Gibbons (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), 33-1
FHSAA Class 5A state champions.

18. (18) Chaminade (St. Louis, Mo.), 24-3
The Red Devils showed they are more than just super junior Jayson Tatum on Saturday in a 70-47 Class 5 quarterfinal win over Hazelwood Central. Junior guard Mike Lewis went for 25 points and senior forward Tyler Cook put up 13 points and grabbed eight boards as Chaminade advanced to the semifinals.

19. (19) Callaway (Jackson, Miss.), 31-3
MHSAA Class 5A state champions. Callaway is ranked in the top five nationally by one media outlet and has expressed its desire to participate in Dick's Nationals. The Chargers are probably a longshot to be included at this point, but don't rule it out.

No. 23 DeMatha wrapped up its season this weekend with a tournament win at the Alhambra Catholic Invitational.

21. (22) Roman Catholic (Philadelphia), 27-2
Surviving with a 58-57 win over Pennsbury on Saturday, the Cahillites live to see another day against J.P. McCaskey (Lancaster) in the Class AAAA final four.

22. (23) La Lumiere (LaPorte, Ind.), 23-2
Regular season complete. Dick's Nationals candidate.

23. (NR) DeMatha (Hyattsville, Md.), 33-4
Washington Catholic Athletic Conference regular season, Maryland private schools tournament and Alhambra Catholic Invitational champions. Season complete.

24. (24) Fairfax (Los Angeles), 31-2
An impressive 75-53 winner over Orange Lutheran on Friday, the Lions advance to face Etiwanda this week in the CIF Open Division regional semifinals.

25. (25) Hamilton (Memphis, Tenn.), 16-16 *
TSSAA Class AAA state champions.

* Record includes 15 forfeit losses

Dropped out: No. 20 St. Anthony (Jersey City, N.J.)
