The Arizona Interscholastic Association said Wednesday morning that the final total of conference appeals received was 72.

The times when those appeals will be heard Thursday are beginning to get posted here

-----

Almost half of the conference appeals the Arizona Interscholastic Association received were from schools wanting to move from 6A to 5A or from 5A to 4A for the 2016-18 seasons.

Schools will begin to make the case for conference placement at 9 a.m. Thursday at the AIA. The times for each hearing will be posted on aiaonline.org on Wednesday.

The conferences' leaders may need more than one day to listen to the 64 appeals but have until next week to send their results to the AIA's executive board. The 6A, 5A and 4A conference appeal committees are each comprised of nine members who will vote to accept or deny an appeal.

About 4-6 members serve on each of the 3A, 2A and 1A conference appeal committees. If an appeal is denied at the conference level, schools can appeal their case to the AIA's executive board.

The board will listen to any appeals it receives on Nov. 16.
