At least during its last three games, Greenway’s hospitality is just to Liberty’s liking.

Liberty has felt right at home, especially its long distance shooters, during the Judy Dixon Memorial Tournament at Greenway High. Tuesday’s 95-80 win over Tucson helped Liberty’s boys get one step closer to winning the tournament and continue to turn their season around.

A six-game stretch against tough opponents left Liberty (5-7) with a losing streak before its Judy Dixon tournament run. But another tough opponent, Sunnyslope (13-2), awaits Liberty in Wednesday’s 7 p.m. Greenway tournament final.

Liberty has made 49 threes, including 20 on Tuesday, since stepping on Greenway’s gym. Sunnyslope’s Chris Orozco and Terrence Gilder scored a combined 25 points in their 53-39 win over Flagstaff in the first semifinal game.

Greenway’s tournament is named after a well-liked, former school secretary in athletics who worked at the school for 21 years.
