The Soccer Bracket Show is coming this Friday. Let's take a preview of what Division II might look like for the boys.

As you know, only the top team in each section will earn an automatic state playoff bid. That comes out to eight berths for the boys. The remaining bids will be based on rankings to get a total of 16 teams. If a section winner falls outside of the top 16 then that team will bump a team out.

Division II, Section I

Kofa (5-2), Gila Ridge (4-2-1) and San Luis (4-3) are all still alive for the section title. This race will be decided on Wednesday, Jan. 27 when Kofa hosts San Luis and Gila Ridge travels to Yuma (0-7).  All three teams appear to be a safe shot for the playoffs however since they are all ranked in the top six.

Division II, Section II

Sunnyslope (7-0-1) has a game advantage over Thunderbird (5-1) but the Vikings need to beat Flagstaff (4-3) on Wednesday to clinch the title. They will also clinch if Thunderbird drops one of the remaining three games on their schedule. Both teams are currently ranked in the top 12. Greenway (5-3) is on the edge.

Division II, Section III

Rincon/UHS (6-0) has already claimed the section title are sitting at the top of the rankings while Nogales (5-1) appears to be much safer after the Apaches knocked off Salpointe on Monday night.

Division II, Section IV

Dobson (5-1) and Higley (4-1) are still fighting as is Saguaro (4-2) although Higley beat both teams. Saguaro travels to Dobson on Wednesday. All the top teams in this section are currently ranked outside of the top 16 including Skyline (4-2).

Division II, Section V

North Canyon (7-0) has claimed the section already. Goldwater (5-1) hosts Cactus Shadows (5-1) on Tuesday. One of those teams needs to win out to get in the playoffs but the S-IV winner might take the 16th spot.

Division II, Section VI

Tucson (4-0-1) and Canyon del Oro (4-0-1) could finish in a tie but the Badgers have a better Division record (8-0-1) to (6-2-2).  Both teams have one more section match with Tucson hosting Catalina Foothills (2-3) on Wednesday and Canyon del Oro hosting Marana Mountain View (3-2) on Tuesday. Salpointe (3-2) and Catalina Foothills are in need of a miracle at this point to get to the state playoffs.

Division II, Section VII

Arcadia (6-0-1) has captured the section. Copper Canyon (4-2) and Agua Fria (3-1-2) may have run out of time since both are ranked outside the top 20.

Division II, Section VIII

South Mountain (7-1), Trevor G. Browne (6-1) and Camelback (5-1-1) are all still alive for the automatic berth. South Mountain hosts Camelback on Wednesday while Browne still has two matches remaining. All three teams might still qualify.
