Sectional tournaments are being played all over the state in preparation for the state playoffs, set to start next Tuesday, Feb. 16. This is what February Frenzy is all about.

When you combine the boys and the girls we will see 240 teams and over 3,000 athletes. fighting for ten trophies. When you throw in the extra teams battling in the sectional tournaments, the number of athletes might reach 4,000.

One of those teams are the 14 boys of St. Augustine.

The Wolves are experiencing the most successful season in school history; 23 wins and a No. 11 ranking heading into a semifinal showdown against The Gregory School in the Division IV, Section II tournament on Friday night.

The team is led by senior Mark Lugo, juniors Chance Strawderman, Max Navarette and Jacob Dybas along with sophomore Andrew Reyna.  It is a team head coach Mike Reyna has been preparing for since he arrived on campus three years ago.

"It took a while to get to get where we are but this has been worth it," Reyna said. "We have a chance to do something special here."

As I mentioned, St. Augustine is but one team. There are 239 other stories ready to be told.
