Imagine going 4-for-5 at the plate in a softball game and actually having your season batting average go down. It's happened to Heritage Academy (Laveen, Ariz.) junior Mikayla Rojas twice this season.

After starting the season a perfect 13-for-13 in her first four games, Rojas went 4-for-5 against American Leadership Academy to see her batting average fall to .944.

Three games later, Rojas went 4-for-5 in a 21-3 win over Sequoia. That moved her average down from .931 down to .911.

Rojas has since strung together three perfect performances, going 9-for-9 along the way to put her season batting average at .930 (40-for-43).

Besides the incredible batting average, which leads the nation according to the MaxPreps leaderboards, Rojas also leads the nation with 22 home runs (including four in one game), slugging percentage with a mark of 2.813 and on-base percentage with a mark of .929. She also ranks second in the nation in RBIs with 74.

Rojas played at Flagstaff (Ariz.) as a freshman and batted .349 with four home runs. She transferred to Heritage Academy as a sophomore and batted .846 (33-for-39) with 16 home runs and 44 RBIs. On top of all that, she even played for the school's baseball team last season.

Heritage Academy is part of the Canyon Athletic Association Division 2.
