No.1 Benson beat No. 24 Amphitheater 8-3 to advance to the semifinal round on Saturday where the Bobcats will face No. 5 Pueblo at 10 a.m. at the Rose Mofford Complex. Freshman Katie Sherman has 24 wins on the year.

Amphitheater reached the quarterfinal round as a 24-seed. Look for the Panthers to be a power team in the next few years.

Pueblo defeated No. 4 Yuma Catholic 8-1 to set up the match with Benson. Benson beat Pueblo 7-5 on April 5. Pueblo came up with nine hits against Sherman that day which is the highest mark given up to a team from Arizona.

This is the Warrior’s first run since they won it all in 1990. Benson has won championships three times in the last decade with the last being in 2011.

No. 3 San Manuel lost to No. 11 Morenci 13-1 in five innings. Morenci beat San Manuel earlier in the year. This ends the Miners run of three straight championship game appearances.
