Hamilton rode the right arm again of ace Zane Strand and used a five-run rally in the third inning on Saturday to tame Perry, 8-3, in the winner's bracket of the Division I Elite Eight at Diablo Stadium.

Strand notched his 10th win of the season with last inning help from closer Drew Swift. Strand allowed five hits and struck out eight. Ricky Ramsdell's two-run double keyed the third-inning rally, which brought Hamilton back from a 3-1 deficit. Four of the five runs in the inning scored with two outs. Jake Desiderio and Nick Brueser also knocked in runs in the third inning. Hamilton remains unbeaten in the tourney and faces the only other unbeaten -- Mountain Ridge -- on Thursday May 12 at 6:30 at Diablo.

MOUNTAIN RIDGE 5, MOUNTAIN POINTE 1: The No. 5 Lions scored three runs in the first and pitching did the rest in handing the No. 8 Pride its first tournament defeat in the late game at Diablo Stadium. Tristan Thomas had three hits and drove in three runs. Tommy Lowe and Josh Seiglitz combined to limit Mountain Pointe to four hits. Lowe pitched the first innings to pick up the win. Mountain Pointe next plays Chaparral on Tuesday May 10 at 6:30 in an elimination game at Diablo.

DIVISION II

IRONWOOD RIDGE 4, WESTWOOD 2: Christian Pearcy's two-run single in the bottom of the sixth lifted the No. 10 NIghthawks past the No. 19 Warriors in the winner's bracket at Maryvale Park.Nick Estrella scattered seven hits and went the distance for Ironwood Ridge.  Derek Daly's two-run homer in the third inning tied the game at 2. Westwood grabbed a 2-0 lead in the top of the second on RBI singles by Aaron Makil and Samuel Langston. Westwood plays again on Tuesday May 10 against Tucson in an elimination game at  4 p.m. at Maryvale. Ironwood Ridge is idle until Thursday May 12 when it faces fellow unbeaten Greenway at 6:30 at Maryvale.

GREENWAY 13, THUNDERBIRD 1: The No. 5 Demons broke open a tight game scoring 10 runs in the seventh inning to upend the No. 1 Chiefs in a winner's bracket game at Maryvale Park.

Matthew McDonald, Jacob Stockdale, Jesus Macias and Christian Platero combined for nine RBI for Greenway. Bryce Mackey pitched six strong innings scattering eight hits to pick up the win.

TUCSON 7, PARADISE VALLEY 5: Youyou Carrasco's three-run double highlighted a five-run rally in the top of the seventh giving the No. 9 Badgers  the win over the No. 4 Trojans at Maryvale Park. Jose Contreras pitched a complete game for Tucson. He allowed 12 hits, but only two runs were earned. The teams combined for nine errors.

CANYON DEL ORO 5, APOLLO 4: The No. 6 Dorados scored three times in the top of the seventh to rally past the No. 2 Hawks in an elimination game at Maryvale Park. Tyler Porter delivered the tie-breaking and winning run with a sacrifice fly to cap the seventh-inning rally. Mason Gavre walked with the bases loaded to tie the game. Jake Tucker was the winning pitcher, giving up just one hit an RBI triple to Apollo's Channy Ortiz in the third inning. CDO next plays Thunderbird on Tuesday May 10 at 6:30 in an elimination game at Maryvale.
