So there was discussion last month. And apparently more Tuesday night at the Mesa Public Schools Governing Board meeting concerning naming Mountain View's football stadium after legendary coach Jesse Parker. There's a resolution on the table to do just that. Mes Schools Governing Board -- get it done.

What Parker helped accomplish for the school with very loyal assistants along the way from the fall of 1976 through the spring of 1995 was garner five state football titles. That was in an era much more competitive top to bottom than what we see today. Equally, if not more important, is his exemplary and award-winning work as a teacher over the same 20 years -- in history/social studies. 

Every district and school craves success in the classroom and in its extra-curricular activities. Jesse Parker supplied Mountain View with a motherload in both. The discussion should be over. Naming Mountain View's football field after Jesse Parker is a no-brainer.
