CROSS COUNTRY: Schadler & Olivo-Quinones earn All-American status; Desert Vista girls take 6th

Nike Cross Country Nationals
Dec. 3: Portland, Oregon
Rio Rico senior Allie Schadler took seventh place at the Nike Cross Country Nationals held in Oregon on Saturday, Dec. 3. Schadler finished with a time of 17:48.6. Buena senior Manny Olivo-Quinones finished in 11th place with a time of 15:48.4.
Schadler brought home First Team All-American honors and Olivo-Quinones is now a Second Team All-American.
Desert Vista freshman Brooklyn Christofis took 63rd (18:58.8) to help pace her teammates (Ahwatukee XC) to a national sixth place finish.
Previously, Schadler took second at the Nike Cross Nationals Regionals held Nov. 19 in Casa Grande with a time of 17:17 and Olivo-Quinones took eighth place (15:32).
Desert Vista (Christofis, Haley Wolf, Baylee Jones, Emily Crall, Amanda Davis, Kelly Harris, Madeline Bucci) won the AIA Division I team championship on Nov. 5 while Olivo-Quinones won the D-I title and Schadler the D-3 championship.
