6A Southern

No. 14 Rincon/University clinched the 6A Tucson Sub-Region and the Rangers will face No. 21 Yuma Cibola for the automatic berth out of the region. The loser of that match should also qualify for what amounts to a 24-team playoff.

No. 10 Tucson is in line to host a play-in match.

5A Sonoran

No. 10 Marana will take on No. 24 Flowing Wells on Jan. 24 for the automatic berth from the region if both team gets past No. 39 Desert View and No. 35 Cholla respectively.

A loss by Flowing Wells could open the door for other teams to sneak in the top 24.

5A Southern

No. 4 Ironwood Ridge is hoping for a super-ranking (top four) but the Nighthawks will have to get past No. 31 Buena and No. 14 Cienega to get there. Either way, a top-eight finish is pretty much guaranteed.

No. 9 Sahuaro has a shot at a top-eight finish. No. 26 Mountain View will get in with upsets over Cienega and Sahuaro.

4A Kino

No. 5 Catalina Foothills, No. 6 Walden Grove and No. 8 Salpointe are all still in the region race. Walden Grove is pulling for Salpointe to beat Catalina Foothills on Tuesday, Jan. 24. The Red Wolves have the better conference record between the three.

There is no play-in bracket at this level so No. 15 Nogales is living on the edge.

4A Gila

No. 11 Palo Verde will be the only team to make it out of the region unless No. 30 Rio Rico wins out and takes the region championship.

3A Region 7

No. 7 Tanque Verde has clinched the region title and the berth that goes with it.  No other team is in line for a playoff spot.

6A Southern

No. 8 Tucson will play No. 5 Cibola for the region championship. If Tucson wins then both should be in position to sit out the play-in bracket. No. 7 Rincon/University is looking to stay put while No. 10 Sunnyside is hoping to leapfrog the Rangers into the top eight.

5A Sonoran

No. 10 Flowing Wells plays No. 11 Cholla Monday night for the region title. No, 34 Marana could force a 3-way tie if everything fell into place but Cholla holds all the conference tiebreaker. No. 16 Desert View appears to be safe for a play-in game.

5A Southern

No. 13 Buena, No. 14 Mountain View, No. 17 Cienega and No. 19 Sahuaro are all still alive for the region title.  No. 29 Ironwood Ridge has to win out against Buena and Cienega.

4A Kino

No.3 Salpointe and No. 4 Catalina Foothills will play for the region title on Tuesday. Both are looking for a top-eight position. No. 13 Nogales needs to win to stay in the playoffs.

4A Gila

No. 16 Douglas, No. 17 Amphitheater, No. 26 Palo Verde and No. 33 Rio Rico can still claim the region and the automatic berth. The champion may be the only one to get in.

3A Region 7

No. 16 Sahuarita, No. No. 23 Pusch Ridge and No. 24 Sabino are still alive. It looks like only the region champion will get to go to the playoffs.
