16 FLOWING WELLS (7-5-1) at 1 CHAPARRAL (17-112)

The Caballeros upset Marana in the play-in round and jumped from 23rd to 16th in the final bracket. Chaparral is the Northeast Valley Region champion and head coach Robyn Carlson has 323 wins in 22 years with three state championships. Chloe Christakos has a 4.933 GPA, Rachel Brown has a 4,823 GPA and Anna Lee Cook has a 4.843 GPA.

 

9 SAHUARO (10-3) at 8 QUEEN CREEK (9-3)

The Cougars have only missed the playoffs six times in 32 years. Sahuaro is led by Kylee Martin and Micah Wilson. Bulldog freshman Sophia Serna has 31 goals and junior Brooke Baldwin has 21 assists to go along with 14 goals.

 

12 CIENEGA (9-4) at 5 CAMPO VERDE (9-4)

Amber Bender has Cienega with a winning record in only her second year with the program and freshman Haley Harris is the leading scorer. Campo Verde captain Whitley Johns has 18 goals but is injured. Freshman Rylee Rottweiler has 11 goals.

 

13 INDEPENDENCE (9-3) at 4 IRONWOOD RIDGE (10-2)

The Patriots are the Union Region champions with a perfect 5-0 record and sophomore Gabrielle Morgan has 19 goals. Laura Figueroa has 16. The Nighthawks made it to the 4A semifinals last year and are led by Mariah Loya, Kelly Koppy, Emma McCormick and Bella Santavicca.

 

14 VERRADO (7-6) at 3 ARCADIA (9-3)

Verrado is the Desert West region champion with a 5-0 record. Talk about Chemistry, Arcadia senior co-captains Megan Tymins, Kennedy Williams and Molly Vesling started playing soccer as teammates when they were in kindergarten.

 

11 WILLIAMS FIELD (8-5) at 5 LIBERTY (9-2-1)

The Black Hawks are the third team out of the San Tan Region and Aris Lukins has 18 goals on the year. Peter Evans first-year coach for the Lions. Delaney Peery had 18 goals to lead Liberty and Maya Lorenzana added 14 more.

 

10 CENTENNIAL (9-4) at 7 WILLOW CANYON (8-3-1)

Centennial is the second team out of the Northwest Region and Willow Canyon is the region champions, beating Centennial 3-1 in region play. Allison Veloz has 17 goals for the Wildcats.

 

15 KELLIS (8-4-1) at 2 NOTRE DAME PREP (10-2)

Kellis beat North canyon in the play-in round. Notre Dame won the 2015 and 2016 Division II state championships Thomas White lists Taylor Culver, Abby Furtmann, Hannah Osland and Julia Koharko as his top players this year.
