Top 6A baseball seed Basha came from behind four different times Saturday and finally overtook pesky Valley Vista in the bottom of the eighth inning to post a 9-8 win over the Monsoon at Basha High.

Trevor Dorn's drove in the decisive run in the last of the eighth. Basha had a couple brief leads 1-0 and 6-5, but managed to fall behind 2-1, 3-2, 5-3 and 8-6. Basha moves on to the elite eight and double-elimination portion fo the tournament on Wednesday May 3 against  Pinnacle.

Of the eight teams left in the tournament, which now becomes double elimination, seven are from the Desert Valley (Horizon, Mountain Ridge, Pinnacle, Boulder Creek) and Premier (Basha, Hamilton and Perry) regions. Corona del Sol is the outsider left.

PERRY 2, KOFA 0: The sixth-seeded Pumas rode the two-hit shutout pitching of Ty Pohlman to victory over the 12th seeded Kings at Perry. The game was played in less than 90 minutes.

Matty Brown supplied the game's only offense with a decisive two-run homer in the fourth inning. Brown had two of Perry's four hits. Perry moves on to face Mountain Ridge in the elite eight.

HAMILTON 13, SUNNYSIDE 0: The 10th-seeded Huskies made short work of the No. 7 Blue Devils with five-inning triumph at Sunnyside.

Seth Sas allowed two hits over his five innings of work, walked none and fanned three. JD McLaughlin led the offense with three hits and five RBI. Brayden Merritt added two hits, including a home run and knocked in two runs. Hamilton next faces Horizon in the elite eight.

PINNACLE 3, SANDRA DAY O'CONNOR 2: Jason Nelson scattered seven hits and struck out eight over 6 1/3 innings and the 8th-seeded Pioneers hung on late to edge the No. 9 Eagles at Pinnacle.

Ty Woessner came on to get the final two outs. Pinnacle was saved by a tie from a ground-rule double that had it not bounced over the fence would have given SDO the tying run in the top fof the seventh. Patrick Donovan and CJ Schauwecker drove in runs for Pinnacle.

HORIZON 11, TUCSON 6: The second-seeded Huskies scored three times in the fourth and five times in the fifth to snap a 3-3 tie and go on to eliminate the No. 15 Badgers at Horizon.

Evan Williams homered and drove in three runs and Cameron Doherty and Sergio Aguirre added two RBI apiece. Colin King worked five innings and allowed three runs while fanning nine to pick up the win.

CORONA DEL SOL 1, CHANDLER 0: Zac Repar stole home in the third inning for the only run as the 5th-seeded Aztecs nipped the No. 12 Wolves at Corona del Sol.

Daniel Sotelo and Luke Eno combined on a one-hitter. Sotelo surrendered the hit and fanned five in six innings on the hill. Eno notched the save. Brady Lamb had Chandler's only hit, a fourth-inning single. Corona managed just three hits off Chandler's Roshan Patel.

MOUNTAIN RIDGE 5, MOUNTAIN POINTE 3: Matt Liberatore struck out 11 and allowed four hits in 6 2/3 innings to pace the fourth-seeded Mountain Lions past the No. 13 Pride at Mountain Ridge.

Mountain Ridge broke a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the third to take the lead for good on a pair of bases-loaded walks -- one to Jacob Robson and the other to Hammer Madera. Corona moves on to play Boulder Creek in the next round.

BOULDER CREEK 4, SAN LUIS 2: The 13th-seeded Jaguars won their second game of the week to continue on in the playoffs edging the Sidewinders at San Luis.
