Chandler girls track a sight to see Wednesday, Saturday

The question this week at the Division I girls track meet is by how much will Chandler win by this year as the Wolves pursue a sixth consecutive title (the last five under the 5A-I moniker).

Heading to prelims and/or  finals Wednesday and Saturday at  Mesa Community College, the Wolves possess the top seed in 10 of 17 events -- 100-meter hurdles, 100 meters, 400 relay, 400 meters, 300 hurdles, 200 meters, 1,600 relay, long jump, triple jump and discus. In two others -- high jump and shot put - they have athletes who could win. In several of the events they have scoring depth.

Chandler has won the last five meets by an average of 57 points over the runner-up. The last two years the Wolves have outdistanced second-place Xavier by 93 and 76, points, respectively. Will that margin go higher this year?

The performances of Hannah Carson, Jasmine Todd, Ky Westbrook, Sherrelle Jordan, Alexis Clay, Makaila Flannigan, Alexis Robert and Haley Bowser -- to name the of the Wolves lineup -- will provide the answer.
