Flowing Wells Hall of Fame to induct six individuals & three teams

Flowing Wells High School will induct six individuals and three teams into the Caballero hall of Fame on Friday, Sept. 22 at 4 p.m. and each honoree will be recognized at halftime during the football game against Deming, New Mexico later that night.                   

 

Tara Erdmann Welling

A 2007 graduate of Flowing Wells High School, Tara earned three varsity letters in both track and cross country and four letters in soccer. She was All-Region, All-City and All-State in all three sports. She was the 2005 runner of the year in Cross Country. She was a member of two State Championship teams in both Soccer and Cross Country. She won individual State Championships in Cross Country and four in Track for a total of seven State Championships.

Tara attended Loyola Marymount University on both a Cross Country and Track Scholarship.  She was a seven time All-American and was the WCC Cross Country Champion.  She was named the LMU Female athlete of the year twice and is a member of LMU Hall of Fame. She participated in two Olympic Trials and placed in the Top Ten twice. She was also the United States Track National Champion in both the Half-Marathon and the 15K. She was a member of the Nike Track Program and is currently on the Skechers Performance Team. Tara is married to Jordan and currently lives in California.

 

Rachelle Federico

A 2007 graduate of Flowing Wells High School, Rachelle earned three varsity letters in Softball and four letters in Basketball. She was selected to the All-Southern Arizona Softball Team and was a three-time member of the All Southern Arizona Basketball Team. She was the Player of the Year in Basketball and was selected as a 1st Team All-State member in Basketball as well.

Her basketball teams made it to the Final Four twice in the State Tournament and finished Runners-Up in 2006. Rachelle is fourth all-time in Career Points with 1,339.  She also is in the Top Ten in 3pt Field Goals, Points in a Season, Career Free Throws and Career 3-pointers. Rachelle attended the University of California on a Basketball Scholarship. Her team made it to the NCAA Tournament Twice and, while there, Rachelle received the Team Hustle Award, Team Academic Award and was named the Team Captain in 2011. Rachelle volunteers in the Dolphin Club and resides in California.

 

David Galvez

 A 1974 graduate of Flowing Wells High School, David earned two varsity letters in Football and Baseball and three letters in Basketball. He was All-Region in all three sports and was All–City and selected to the 2nd Team All-State in Football. He was member of three teams that won the Division and also made the State Championship game in both Football (twice) and Basketball. His baseball team made it to the Final Four. David held the State Record for most passing yards in a State Championship game. David held the school record for most Touchdown passes in a season and was in the Top Five in assists in Basketball. David went on to play two years of college baseball and one year of college basketball. He spent 17 years coaching baseball and currently is a highly regarded basketball official in the state of Arizona.  David is married to Mary Lou and they have three sons Jason, Justin and Gino.

 

Dave Snyder

David was a teacher and coach at Flowing Wells High School from 1971 to 1993. David was also the Student Council adviser for eleven years. He was the Scottish Rites Tucson Teacher of the year. David was willing to help coach in whatever sport he was needed.  He coached Football, Soccer and Track & Field.  Track is where David made his mark. He coached multiple Division Championship Teams. David was the coach of the State Championship Girls Track Teams in both 1981 and 1982 when he earned Tucson’s Coach of the Year award. He was selected to the Kearny Invitational Hall of Fame and was recognized for his service to the 5A Southern Region.  David was married to Patricia and they had 3 children; David, Stacy and Jana.

 

Steve Torres

A 1978 graduate of Flowing Wells High School. Steve earned three Varsity letters in football. He was a member of the 1975 undefeated Football State Championship Team and led them to two come-from-behind victories during that season. He was selected as the sophomore of the Year in 1976 and made the Arizona Prep Honor roll as a top football talent. Steve went on to play football at Cerritos College and his team won the Championship of the South Coast League in 1978.  They were also selected to play in the Avocado Bowl game that same year. Steve is currently a social worker and case manager for individuals with disabilities, board member of the Amistades prevention Coalition and Founder of S.A.F.E. – Students and Family Enrichment in Tucson.

 

Paul Wilson

A 1969 graduate of Flowing Wells High School, Paul earned two varsity letters in both Football and Baseball and three varsity letters in Wrestling. He earned All-Conference recognition in football. Paul was a Two-Time State Wrestling Champion and earned a third place as well. In 1969, he was voted Most Valuable Wrestler in the State Tournament. He also earned All-American honors and is in the Flowing Wells Wrestling Hall of Fame. Paul was a member of the State Runners-Up Football Team in 1969 as well.  After high school Paul received a wrestling scholarship and played in many city baseball leagues.  He also coached little league baseball in the Flowing Wells area. He is married to Jenny and they have three children; Shannan, Cade and Calley.
