The Cross Country sectionals were held Thursday, Friday and Saturday across the state with most of the sections comprised of Southern Arizona runners taking place Saturday morning at Rio Rico.

By rule, the top 50% of the full teams entered will advance to the state meet scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 4 at the Cave Creek Golf Course. Additionally, the top 25 finishers will also qualify even if the 25 runners are from qualifying teams.

The Cienega girls won the Division II/Section I race while Catalina Foothills won the boy’s race. Catalina Foothills standout Richelle Sandin (19:53.79) won the individual title and Ayden Schilb of Cienega (17:00.62) took the boy’s medal.

Salpointe swept both races in the Division III/Section I race. Rio Rico standout Samantha Schadler (19:14.20) won on the girl’s side and Amphitheater’s Gamar Garem (17:33.67) took the boy’s title.

The Thatcher girls won the Division IV/Section II race and Bisbee won the boy’s race.  Lily Richardson (21:10.37) led Thatcher and Pusch Ridge standout Ben Black (17:41.53) won on the boy’s side.

The Rincon/University girls qualified from the Division I/Section I race held Friday.
