A goodly amount of repeating went on individually and in team-title chases at Saturday's D-I, D-II and D-III swim and dive champinships at Skyline and High and Phoenix Country Day School.

Brophy Prep made it 30 years in a row nabbing the D-I boys title while Xavier College Prep raised the big trophy for the girls for the first time in five years. Chaparral repeated in D-II by hefty margins in both boys and girls. Seton Catholic boys won and Sabino repeated in D-III. Seton unseated last year's first-ever D-III champ -- Phoenix Country Day.

D-I boys

Brophy won only one individual event -- Patrick Schramm in the 100 breaststroke. However, the Broncos won all three relays and piled up points with their depth iin the other events to tally a 135-point win over runner-up Mesa Mountain View. Standouts for Brophy in the relays were Matt Milovanovic, Schramm, Michael Niezgodzki and Dane Nelson (200 medley); AJ Frakes, Dylan Krueger, Grant Thielsen and Parker Hughes (200 free) and Frakes, Nelson, Hughes and Niezgodzki (400 free).

The lone repeat champ in an individual event was Chandler's Michael Klauss. Klauss the 100 butterfly last year and earned the gold this year in the 200 IM. Other individual winners were Chandler's Terry Yang (200 free), Perry's Tai Combs (50 free) and Kaden Miller (100 free), Rincon's Barberii Drake (100 butterfly), Desert Mountain's Tanner Falls (500 free), Mountain View's Brian Rawlinson (100 back) and Red Mountain's Miles Hull (diving).

D-I girls

Xavier managed its first team crown since 2012 finishing with 321 points to second-place Chandler's 263. It was an emotional win for Xavier, which lost second-year coach Maureen Rankin to cancer just six weeks ago.

Xavier was led by Kaitlyn McCoy who repeated as 200 IM champ and added the 100 backstroke title. McCoy also swam the first leg of the winning 200 medley relay. Xavier won two of three three relays. McCoy, Paola Guera, Olivia Paliscak and Mary Roediger comprised the 200 medley relay. Paliscak, Roediger, Kelly Scott and Guerra were on the 200 free relay.

Also winning two individual events -- one in record-breaking fashion -- was Boulder Creek's Claire Grover (50 free) and 100 breast. Grover broke her own state record set at last year's state meet by .05 of a second. Winning time was 22.87. Three others repeated as individual champs - Red Mountain's Olivia Grossklaus (100 fly), Highland's Kyla Yetter (100 free) and Skyline's Victoria Knapp (diving). First-time champs were Perry's Kalli Fama (200 free) and Chandler's Destiny Kling (500 free).

D-II boys

Chaparral widend the gap it won the team title this year over 2016 by a considerable margin over runner-up Catalina Foothills. The Firebirds totaled 364 points to 202 for Catalina Foothills. Chaparral bested CFH by 33.5 points in 2016.

Chaparral sophomore Matthew LeBlanc earned a pair of golds in individual events and and was the second leg of the winning 200 medley relay. LeBlanc was the only returning individual champ on the boys side and repeated in the 100 breast. He also won the 200 IM on Saturday.  LeBlanc's teammates on the 200 medley were Conner Holden, Daniel Simmons and Sam Acheson. Chaparral also claimed the 200 free relay with a team comprised of Rick Popper, Tyler Best, Cole Rodriguez and Jaedin Clark.

D-II girls

Chaparral dropped a big number on its D-II foes this year in repeating as champs. The Firebirds notched 554 points more than doubling runner-up Catalina Foothills (271).

It takes a lot of winning to score that many points and Chaparral did just that. The Firebirds won all three relays and seven of the nine individul events. Freshman Ashley Strouse was good for four golds (200 free and 500 free), the anchor leg of the 200 free relay and the third leg of the 400 free relay.

Teammates (senior) Kelly Huffer, (freshman) Riley Courtney and junior Greer Pattison were part of three titles. Huffer won the 200 Im and 100 fly, Courtney the 100 breast and legs of the 200 medley relay and 200 free relay and Pattison 100 back, and legs of the 200 medley relay and 400 free relay. Chloe Zapata and Samantha Krew were part of two relays (200 medley and 200 free) and Sara Segneri part of 400. The diving title went to the Firebirds Mia Waters by .6 of point over Catalina Foothills Summer Westmoreland

Only one other swimmer won an individual title. Ironwood Ridge's Hannah Houlton won the 50 free and 100 free.

D-III boys

Seton Catholic, last year's D-III runner-up brought enough firepower back from last season to gain the top spot. Seton squeezed past Phoenix Country Day 279.5 to 264. Leading the wasy for Seton was two-event repeat champion Archie Spindler (200 free and 500 free). Spindler also swam the anchor leg of the winning 400 free relay. Joining Spindler on the 400 relay were Vincent Hemingway, James Karan and Gabe Rangel. Two other swimmers won two events each. Pusch Ridge's William Newman repeated in the 200 IM and 100 back. Arete Prep's Phoenix Jacob Zajdzinski prevailed in the 50 free and 100 free. Phoenix Country Day's Jake Rodin won the 100 fly and teammate Jem Stern took top honors in diving.

D-III girls

Sabino had an easier time taking the team title this year, scoring 259 points to best Scottsdale Prep's 200. Sabino won two of the three relays and enough depth with one invidividual title to hold off Scottsdale Prep, which won the other relay and no individual events.

Sabino's Skylar Dikeman won the 50 free and led off the two event triumphs - the 200 medley relay and 400 free relay. Teammates on the 200 medley with Dikeman were Beatrice Oliver, Margaret Oliver and Kaylin Farnum; on the 400 free it was Dikeman, Laurel Montague, Amanda Farnum and Kaylin Farnum.

A trio of swimmers won two events apiece -- American Leadership Academy's Katie McBratney (200 free and 100 breast) and Sadie Edwards (200 IM and 100 fly) and Phoenix Country Day's Quinn Murphy (100 free and 100 back). PCD's Samantha Stein repeated as diving champ and Arete Prep's Amanda Zajdzinski captured the 500 free. McBratney repeated in the 100 breast. She won the 100 breast and 200 IM last year.
