A whirlwind six weeks of better-late-than-never smoozing brought Perry standout quarterback Brock Purdy to his final choices Wednesday morning - Iowa State or Texas A&M.

After listening to the humble senior discuss his choice, all signs pointed to Iowa State as an early leader that Purdy couldn't/wouldn't dismiss.

Purdy announced Iowa State as his choice about 25 minutes after he and fellow football and boys volleyball athletes were introduced taking their games to the next level.

"The vision (Iowa State) Coach (Matt) Campbel is one I believe in," Purdy said. "They came in early and we got a relationship established quickly. I was comfortable with them right away."

Purdy took his visit to Iowa State in early January after the early sinning period came and went. It was thought Boise State was in the running for early signing but Purdy opted to wait to pursue more options, including Alabama and Texas A&M. Purdy's recruiting journey sky-rocketed after Perry's epic battle Dec. 2 with Chandler High in the 6A championship game in Tucson.

Purdy's three-year career at Perry produced prestigious numbers and his postseason awards may not be able to fit in the Purdy home. His career was capped by a senior season that saw Perry post a 12-2 record. and reach the final for the first time in school history.

Purdy passed for 4,405 yards, 57 touchdowns and nine interceptions and rushed for 1,017 yards and 10 TDs in 2017. The passing numbers essentially doubled the total of his sophomore and junior seasons at the helm of the Pumas offense (4,527 yards and 50 TDs).

Purdy was joined in his signing by six football teammates -- Kaden Baxter and Tate Speaker (NAU); Darius Holton (Colorado State University- Pueblo), Vincent Corral (Ottawa); Jobiin Sweatt (Mesa Community College) and Ryan Warren (UTEP). Volleyball player Ryan Whitmire  signed with Benedictine University n Mesa.
