Page played like a program that's been to 12 title games in its history as the third-seeded Lady Sand Devils took control from the start and knocked off #2 Window Rock, 66-47, in a 3A girls semifinal at Gila River Arena.

Page (21-9) returns to the championship game for the second year in row and will play for the title for the 13th time. Page has won four titles, the last in 2015. Window Rock finished its season 21-7. Page will face Monument Valley, an upset winner over Ganado, for the championship on Monday Feb. 26 at 3 p.m. at Gila River Arena.

Page wasted little time grabbing the lead and in fact never trailed. The Lady Sand Devils led 26-16 after the first period and 37-29 at halftime. The strong play in the first half by Lelisa Watson (11 points, seven rebounds and the perfect shooting from the field and line by Jacey Salabiye (13 points) had Window Rock on its heels.

The big stat in the first half was Page's rebounding edge (19-9). Eight of those 19 rebounds were on the offensive end and led to a 13-2 advantage in the half on second-chance points. Page made 49 percent of its field goals for the game.

Watson finished with a game-high 19 points and 10 rebounds and Saliabiye totaled 17 points. Myka Taliman and Amy Yellowman chipped in the 10 points and 9 points, respectively. Page won three of four meetings between the teams this year -- the last two by large double-digit margins in postseason.

Window Rock was led by senior Venessa James and sophomore Jana Solee with 16 points apiece.

MONUMENT VALLEY 38, GANADO 32:  The upstart #12-seeded Scouts weren't red hot shooting but good enough to upend the top-seeded Hornets and advance to their first championship game since 2011. The win avenged a pair of losses by two and three points to Ganado during the reguar season.

Monument Valley (16-15) got 11 points from Jazlyn Lane, eight in the first half, and were able to hold off a late threat by Ganado. Ganado saw its season end with a game perhaps they hadn't played all season. Ganado turned the ball over 25 times and made just 11 of 50 shots (22 percent). Monument Valley was a few points better shooting (32 percent), but capitailzed on turnovers more than Ganado. Monument Valley committed 20 turnovers,.

Ganado trailed nearly the entiire game, but had a chance after a three by Jefawn Eskeets with 2:02 to go pulled the Hornets withing 32-28. But Monument Valley beat Ganado in transition on two consecutive possessions to bump the lead back to 34-26 and and the lead wasn't challenged again.

Lakeshia Begay had seven ppints and six rebounds for Monument Valley. Eskeets led Ganado off the bench with 11 points, making 4 of 9 3s and had eight points in the second half. Abigail Benally, also in a reserve role, added nine points.

3A BOYS SEMIS

WINSLOW 68, CHINLE 57:  The second-seeded Bulldogs (27-6)  used strong middle periods to rally from nine points down and defeat the No. 6 Wildcats (23-10) to reach the 3A title game for the second year in a row. Winslow outscored Chinle, 38-21, in the middle quarters.

Winslow will play the Blue Ridge-Valley Christian winner on Monday Feb. 26 at 5 p.m. at Gila River Arena for the championship. Winslow is seeking its second boys hoops title. It's only other one was captured in 1979.

Winslow's strong starting lineup all had their moments. Point guard Darius James led his team with 20 points (16 in the first half). Ricardo Villanueva was next with 17 splitting his production evenly each half. A catalyst in the second half was guard Yoann Djassa, tallied 12 of his 14 points in the third and fourth periods. Djassa grabbed 11 rebounds as did Zach Wagner, who ended up with 12 points.

Forward Angelo Lewis topped Chinle and all scorers with 14 points, making 8 of 15 shots. But it was Winslow's dominance in the paint offensivley and defensively in the second half that helped widen the final margin.

BLUE RIDGE 59, VALLEY CHRISTIAN 55: The top-seeded Yellow Jackets steadfastly hung on to the lead most of the game and when heavily tested in the final period to eliminate the fourth-seeded Trojans and reach a basketball title game for just the third time in school history. Since they are there now, they'd like to win one.

Blue Ridge (32-3) played in title games in 1993 and 1997. They lost both to Monument Valley. Valley Christian wrapped up its season with a 23-9 record. The Trojans were seeking their sixth title-game berth.

Darien Burnette scored eight of his game-high 22 points in the final period to keep Blue Ridge in front as Valley Christian kept pressure on the lead to the final seconds. Burnette scored seven of those eight points in a 90-second stretch early in the quarter to push the lead to 51-43.

Valley Christian didn't relent as reserve Logan Phiillips scored all eight of his points, including two 3s to pull the Trojans within three twice in the final four minutes. Blue Ridge senior guarrd Seth Chavez connected on the biggest three of the contest with 3:30 left. Chavez sank a trey from the left corner just a few seconds after Valley Christian had pulled within 51-50 .

Blue Ridge made enough free throws (5 of 9) in the final 1:11 to complete the victory. Leading scorer Mason Berges checked in with 15 points and eight rebounds for the Yellow Jackets.

Valley Christian was led in scoring by post Evan Olsen with 14 points.. He also grabbeda a team-high 7 rebounds. Valley Christian can lament its free-throw shooting. The Trojans made only 3 of 11. Blue Ridge sanke 12 of 17.
