This year's group of softball players for Cactus High and the seniors who graduated last year didn't and don't know what's it's like to lose before the home folks.

They aim to keep it that way. After Friday afternoon's 15-1 victory over Buckeye, coach Bartt Underwood, his staff and players ran their home winning streak to an even 50 games. Something to be proud and unique as well. Cactus last loss came on April 2, 2013 against Sunrise Mountain. The Cobras lost that day 1-0 in 13 innings thanks to a solo homer by Sunrise Mountain's Taylor Nowlin.

Cactus slammed four homers in the contest -- one each by Aubrey Chavez, Alynah Torres, Emilie Guerra and Bub Feringa. Chavez and Torres' blasts were grand slams. Feringa did the honors in the circle allowing three hits and fanned five in the five-inning contest shortened by the 10-run rule. Cactus looks to make in 51 wins in a row on its home field Tuesday April 3 against Moon Valley. At that game Cactus will interrupt the contest to honor its 2006 National Championship team.
