Xavier College Prep swimming cruised to a victory over Boulder Creek Thursday afternoon, collecting 131 out of a possible 170 points.

The win came less than a week after the Gators finished second in the 30th annual Brophy-Xavier Invitational.

Freshman Hope Nolan finished first in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:17.58 after falling behind during the breaststroke leg. She fought back during the last 50 yards and beat her opponent by a fraction of a second.

Freshman Gracie Munk finished first in the 100 breaststroke despite her goggles falling off during the race. She finished with a time of 1:14.97.

Coach Mark Rankin was proud of the way his team competed and is looking ahead to the rest of the season.

The win moved the Gators to 3-1 on the season and in league play, with their only loss coming against Chaparral last month.

Senior Maggie Hull said winning on Senior Night was a special moment for the swimmers.

“We’re a really close team so it’ll be sad to leave,” Hull said.

The team held a small ceremony following the 50-yard freestyle to honor the seniors for their years of dedication.

Junior Maddie Wright said this meet was a good tuneup for the team.

“This meet definitely helped us gauge our times and where we’re at this season,” Wright said. Wright competed in the 100 butterfly and two relays.

Xavier’s next dual meet will be on October 11th against Chandler.
