The Pinnacle Pioneers extended their winning streak with a four-set victory over the Liberty Lions, 25-22, 25-14, 23-25, 25-17, Tuesday night.

Going into the game on a 10-game winning streak put Pinnacle’s confidence level at an all-time high. But that didn’t stop Liberty from putting up a relentless fight.

“We feel really confident,” Pinnacle captain Brooke Cowie said, “especially since our rankings are going up too.”

Liberty started the first set with their head in the game and were neck and neck until Pinnacle slipped away with a 25-22 win.

Switching sides and entering into set two did nothing but add to Pinnacle’s fiery energy.

With a dominant front row, Pinnacle blocked every spike that threatened to make it over the net, which led to a quick 25-14 win for the Pioneers.

However, Pinnacle’s momentum didn’t last going into the third set as Liberty came out determined and took a 5-0 lead.

“I think our first two sets were a highlight,” Pinnacle Coach Katelynn Paine said, “And then we sort of made it through the rest of the match.”

The two teams went back and forth until Pinnacle fell short and Liberty took the third set, 25-23.

Starting the fourth set with a 2-0 lead Liberty had Pinnacle fighting to keep their winning streak alive.

“We have a really tough region. Every match can go either way,”  Paine said. “It’s the team that works the hardest and wants it the most.”

With that in mind, Pinnacle brought back their fiery momentum and secured a 25-18 victory in the fourth set.

“I was very confident going out with my team. I connected with Brooke, our setter, really well tonight.” star player Kylee Stokes said. “We did an amazing job blocking and having a solid defense as well as a solid offense and I think that’s where we ended up being really successful.”

Stokes is a key player for Pinnacle’s team and has committed to play volleyball at South Carolina next year. Stokes has been MVP of eight games this season and was a huge contributor in Tuesday's victory.

Pinnacle will hit the road for an away game against Chaparral today in hopes of securing their 12th consecutive win.

“Since we played them earlier in the Nike tournament we know how their defense is set up,” Cowie said, “and we know going into the game how to set up our defense, block and what to expect.”

Pinnacle has already achieved a 2-1 win over Chaparral earlier this season.
