No. 13 Empire beat No. 27 Flowing Wells 3-0 Monday night to claim the 5A Sonoran Region championship. The Play-In Tournament for teams ranked 9-24 is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 25 and the Ravens should finish high enough to host a play-in match.

With No. 2 Salpointe claiming the 4A Kino Region, No. 23 Amphitheater claiming the 4A Gila Region, No. 13 St. Augustine claiming the 2A South Region and No. 3 St. David claiming the 1A South Region, only two regions from Southern Arizona are still up for grabs:

No. 10 Ironwood Ridge (9-0) will host No. 8 Cienega (8-1) Tuesday night to settle the 5A Sonoran Region. If the Bobcats win, both teams will split the championship.

If The Nighthawks win, then the program will have the championship all to themselves and a possible finish in the top eight to avoid the Play-In Tournament.

The other region up for grabs in Southern Arizona is the 3A. No. 8 Tanque Verde (8-0) will host No. 12 Pusch Ridge (7-1) on Tuesday. If the Hawks win, then the title is there’s and the team should avoid the play-in bracket. If the Lions win then it gets murky because each team still has another match left but the Hawks will still get the automatic playoff berth due to a better conference record.
