Desert Vista's Anna O'Neill finished off a productive day Wednesday with the game-winning goal in the 79th minutes to lift the Thunder to a 2-1 victory over Pinnacle on Day 4 of pool play at the Day 4 of the annual Coyote Classic  at Campo Verde High School.

O'Neill helped Desert Vista to a 1-0 first-half lead with an assist to forward Emma Green in the box in the 14th minute. Pinnacle managed to tie it in the 59th minute on a header by Kyley Asheim off a nice cross from Emma McWilliams.

The match seemed destined to finish in a tie, but O'Neill found the back of the net on a second chance opportunity off what began with a throw in.

Desert Vista's win tightened things in the battle for semifinal berths come late Friday night. Cross bracket play among Pinnacle, Chaparral, Basha, Desert Vista, Campo Verde and Casteel is a mess with each team playing a final pool match Thursday or Friday. Chaparral and Campo Verde are 1--0-1, Pinnacle, Desert Vista and Basha are 1-1 and Casteel is 0-2.

Basha, playing its third match in as many days, scored a pair of second-half goals for a 2-0 win over Casteel in the first match of the day at Campo Verde.

Senior Valentina Bernal broke the scoreless tie in the 48th minute knocking home a throw-in from Jessenya Bogle. Freshman Rylee Watrous added an insurance goal in the 67th minute getting a clear shot from deep in the box past Casteel keeper Kyli Swann.
