WRESTLING: First-ever Girls Sectionals set for Saturday across the state

The first-ever sectional competition dedicated to girls wrestling gets underway on Saturday, Jan. 26 at five locations around the state. Campo Verde will host Section I, Moon Valley will host Section II, Flowing Wells will host Section III, Winslow will host Section IV and Shadow Ridge will host Section V.

 

There will be ten weight classes:

101 pounds

110 pounds

118 pounds

125 pounds

130 pounds

135 pounds

145 pounds

160 pounds

185 pounds

225 pounds

Over 52 wrestlers from 20 schools will be competing at the Flowing Wells venue according to athletic director Pat Weber including Canyon del Oro freshman Mylei Seigla (12-0), wrestling in the 118-class.

The state championship will be held Friday, Feb. 8 starting at 9:45 a.m. in Prescott Valley.
