Valley Christian has put on a road show in its first two games, outscoring opponents 89-0. Friday, the Trojans will face Arizona Lutheran Academy in their first home game of the season.

Will their success follow them home? “It’s about staying focused and staying prepared,” said Vinnie Lagatta. "Just honing in on the little details each and every week will help us go out and do that.”

The Trojans have found their offensive groove early scoring more than 40 points in both of their outings. “I try to be super varied, with multiple formations and philosophies,'' said coach Kirk Sundberg, “I want to be different from what a lot of other people are doing, because I think that makes us hard to prepare for.”

The approach has worked resoundingly for his multi-faceted offense. “Coach Kirk has great game plan every week. He knows what he’s doing,'' said Trojan quarterback Vinnie Lagatta.

When asked about the biggest factor of exploding offensively, Lagatta said, “We have so many guys that can do something with the ball, we have about seven or eight guys that can score a touchdown whenever they want. It’s about staying focused and staying prepared. Just honing in on the little details each and every week will help us go out and do that.”

The private school looks to a new challenge against a team that is also undefeated in three games this season and hopes to extend that illustrious streak against a bigger school.

Like Valley Christian, Arizona Lutheran also has key multidimensional players.

Tony Gomez, who plays running back, free safety, kicker, and sometimes even returns kicks for Valley Cristian, has had a major impact.

Valley Christian is ranked second in its 3A region. Gomez is looking at a deep playoff run. “Last year we made the semifinals which was a great run, but this year we have another year under the coach (Sundberg), we should be more talented, and be able to execute better.”
