Friday night Gilbert Christian (3-1) finally broke through against Scottsdale Christian (1-3) defeating the rival school for the first time by a final score of 35-14. The senior class for the Knights entered the game having lost three consecutive years to SCA by a combined score of 160-41. One would have never known that from the opening kickoff as Gilbert Christian scored early and never trailed while rushing for 459 yards on 46 attempts averaging nearly a first down a carry.
Senior Cole Sundt (2) who rushed for 200 yards and 2 Touchdowns.

Gilbert Christian’s defense forced a three and out on the Eagles' opening possession and set the tone early for the game, they would go on to surrender only one defensive touchdown while intercepting two Scottdale Christian passes. Junior defensive back Marcus McWilliams (16) was named one of the Knights Players of the Game for the second week in a row as he recorded his third interception in four games. On Offense Gilbert Christian's rushing attack once again dominated. Senior Cole Sundt (2) played fullback and rushed for 200 yards and 2 touchdowns while the state leader in rushing yards Weston Zierer (1) ran for 214 and also had 2 scores.

Gilbert Christian has equaled their win total from a year ago in just four games this season, defeating three teams which they lost to a year ago. The Knights will seek revenge on River Valley (2-1) this week as they welcome the Dust Devils for Homecoming. Last year Gilbert Christian made the long trip to Mohave Valley and was defeated 47-6. River Valley will be coming off a bye week while Gilbert Christian enters with their 3-game winning streak on the line. The game will take place at 7:00 p.m. at Gilbert Christian High School.
