Cross Country: Interstate invite features 6 New Mexico, 4 Arizona schools

Every year the Shiprock, New Mexico High School Chieftains Invite entertains quality cross country teams from New Mexico and neighboring Arizona.

This year's invite features six New Mexico and four Arizona high schools this Saturday in Shiprock.

Arizona high schools entered are Chinle, Kayenta Monument Valley, Window Rock and Rock Point. New Mexico high schools consists of Kirtland Central, Farmington, Bloomfield, Piedra Vista, Navajo Prep and host Shiprock.

A coaches' meeting is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. A Junior High School invite for seventh and eighth grade girl's is scheduled for 9 a.m., followed by a boy's seventh and eighth grade race at 9:30 a.m.

The Top 2 Junior High School girl's and boy's teams each receive an award.

The Top 15 Junior High girl's and Junior High boy's finishers will receive a ribbon at the awards ceremony.

The high school Junior Varsity girl's race starts at 10 a.m., while the Junior Varsity boy's race is scheduled for 10:30 a.m.

Junior Varsity girl's and boy's Top 3 finishers receive an awards at the awards ceremony.

The Top 15 Junior Varsity girl's and Junior Varsity boy's finishers will be presented a ribbon during the awards ceremony.

The high school Varsity female race is set for 11 a.m. The invite's final race of the day begins at 11:30 a.m. with the Varsity boy's.

During the awards ceremony at conclusion of the invite, the Top 10 girl's Varsity and boy's Varsity finishers will received a medal.

The Top 3 schools finishing in the Varsity girl's and boy's team standings will receive an award during the ceremony at conclusion of the invite.
