Football: Alchesay Falcons, Winslow 'Dogs post shutout victories

Alchesay junior running back Davin Parker and Winslow senior running back Mason Scott both turned in stellar performances to lead their respective teams to shutout victories in a pair of prep football games.

Alchesay posted a 44-0 win over Many Farms in a 2A region contest. Meanwhile, Winslow blanked Tuba City, 43-0, in non-region 3A game.

Parker rushed for 214 yards on eight rushes, scoring five touchdowns on the night against the Lobos.

"Davin Parker had a big night for us with 5 rushing touchdowns and 214 yards on the ground," said Alchesay head coach Brandon Newcomb. "I was happy everybody got to play big minutes. It is always nice to get a win. But if we plan on winning the region, we will have to get a lot better. That starts with our week of preparation."

Alchesay raced out to a 30-0 first quarter lead. The Falcons added a touchdown in the second quarter, taking a 36-0 halftime advantage.

The Falcons tallied eight pointd in the third quarter, for a 44-0 lead.

"I was impressed with Many Farms' effort," Newcomb said. "They were out manned, but they played four quarters. The Nez kid they (Many Farms) have is fun to watch and compete."

Scott, who has been the Bulldogs' leading rusher this year, netted 123 yards on 16 carries. Scott rushed for one touchdown and hauled in a pass from Winslow sophomore quarterback Jace Lyons for a six-pointer.

Bulldogs' junior running back Robert Wilbanks rushed for 94 yards on 7 carries and two touchdowns.

Junior Aiden Kislingbury chalked up 78 yards and 7 rushes and one touchdown.

Winslow netted 356 yards for the night on the ground.

Winslow sophomore quarterback Jace Lyons threw for 59 yards, completing four passes and one touchdown.
