Last Friday, the McClintock Chargers took on the Notre Dame Prep Saints at home in front a fierce, loyal McClintock crowd.

McClintock fills out the stands with many alumni as well as many local Tempe residents for all of their home games. Many of them show up to each and every one of the Chargers'' home games.

They are always among the loudest fans at the game, whether it be arguing a call, cheering on the Chargers, or because the opposing team has scored.

“It’s like a tradition," said one fan at the game who had a granddaughter go to McClintock. I’m a Tempe resident for almost 50 years now, and I love Chargers football."

It seems to be all about tradition with the fans.

“I grew up playing with the McClintock association back in the late 80s to early 90s," Jeff Nagus said. "It is a great tradition for me to have my kid come here when he gets older.”

The best part about all of these fans is they come to the games even though they have no relatives or friends on the team. They just come to support the local Tempe community and because they have fond memories of playing for McClintock or just watching games in the past.

“I have been coming to most games ever since the 80s when I had friends that went here [McClintock], and McClintock football to me is more than just a game, it’s a part of my life,” Harrison Cheatham said.

Some of Harrison's say that it is weird that he likes a high school football team so much, especially a school that he did not even attend.

“It’s a little crazy that he likes McClintock’s team this much even though he didn’t even go here," Tom Haley said. "But hey, I’m here with him so I might be just as crazy.”

The Chargers' (4-3) next game is Oct. 18 when they host Paradise Valley (5-1).
