Regionals are scheduled for northern schools

Post season regionals for northern schools are scheduled for Friday and Saturday.

1A NORTH VOLLEYBALL REGIONALS

The 1A North Volleyball Regional tournament begins today at Rock Point High School gymnasium.

Two first round matches are on tap today.

No. 1 Rock Point Cougars meets No. 4 El Capitan Eagles at 4 p.m.

In the second match of the night has No. 2 St. Michael Cardinals facing No. 3 Red Mesa at 5:30 p.m.

The tournament continues at 7 p.m. today. The North Volleyball Regional tournament championship match, features the winner of Rock Point-El Capitan and the survivor of St. Michael-Red Mesa.

General admission is $8 per person. Arizona Interscholastic Association passes are honored. Seniors and kids under 6 admission is $5 per person. 1A North Regional apparel (50/50 short sleeve shirt) will be on sale for $20 per shirt.

2A NORTH VOLLEYBALL REGIONALS

First round matches in the 2A North Volleyball Regional tournament began at four different sites of the higher seed on Thursday night.

The winners of the first round matches advance into the semifinals.

No. 1 Pinon defeated No. 8 Alchesay, 25-22, 25-27, 25-15 and 25-22 at Pinon.

No. 4 Greyhills Academy blanked No. 5 Many Farms, 25-5, 25-17 and 25-21.

No. 2 Round Valley posted a 3-0 win over No. 7 Hopi, 25-18, 25-8 and 25-9.

No. 3 St. Johns chalked up a 3-0 win over No. 6 Valley Sanders, 25-21, 25-27 and 25-14.

The 2A North Regional tournament shifts to St. Johns High School on Saturday for the semifinals and championship matches.

Round Valley meets nearby rival St. Johns at 9 a.m. in a semifinal match at 9 a.m.

Pinon faces Greyhills Academy at 10:30 a.m. in a semifinal match at 10:30 a.m.

The Regional tournament third/fourth place match begins at 2:30 p.m. The championship is scheduled for 4 p.m.

Admission is $5 per person for session tickets. The admission is $8 for daily passes. Ages 5 and under receive free admission. Arizona Interscholastic Association passes are honored.

3A NORTH VOLLEYBALL REGIONALS

The 3A North Volleyball Regional tournament matches are scheduled throughout the day on Saturday at Nash Center on the campus of Monument Valley High School in Kayenta.

North No. 1 Tuba City and No. 2 Page esrned first round byes. Tuba City and Page advance into the tournament semifinals.

The 10 a.m. match features No. 4 Window Rock and No. 5 Ganado. The Window Rock/Ganado winner meets Tuba City at 1:15 p.m. in one semifinal match.

The second match of the first round has No. 3 Monument Valley and No. 6 Chinle at 11:30 a.m.

The survivor of the Monument Valley/Chinle match takes on Page in the semifinals at 3 p.m.

The North Volleyball Regional tournament championship match begins at 4:45 p.m.

General admission is $5 per person. Kids 5-years-and-under are free of charge. Arizona Interscholastic Association passes are honored.

3A NORTH CROSS COUNTRY REGIONALS

NORTHERN ARIZONA INTERSCHOLASTIC CONFERENCE

The 3A North Cross Country Regionals and Northern Arizona Interscholastic Conference are scheduled for Saturday at Window Rock High School in Fort Defiance.

A coaches' meeting and course walk-through are scheduled for 8:30 a.m.

At 9:30 a.m., the mid-school boy's and girl's open race begins. The NAIC girl's race begins at 10 a.m., followed by the boy's NAIC race at 10:30 a.m.

The 3A North girl's championship race is set for 11 a.m. and the boy's race is scheduled for 11:30 a.m.

A high school boy's and girl's open races will take place at 12 noon.

The top 20 individuals in the boy's and girl's 3A North Regional championship races receive a medal. A championship trophy will be presented a trophy.

The top 20 individuals in the boy's and girl's in the NAIC championship races receive a medal. The NAIC champions and runner-up receive a banner and tee shirts.

3A North Region schools participating are Chinle, Ganado. Kayenta Monument Valley, Page, Tuba City and Window Rock.

NAIC schools competing are Chinle Junior High; Ganado Middle School; Hopi Junior High, Kaibeto Community School; Kayenta Boarding School; Kayenta Middle School; Naatsisaan Community School, Page Middle School; Pinon Middle School; and Dennehotso Boarding School.

Also, Red Mesa Junior High; Rock Point Community School; Sanders Middle School; Shonto Preparatory School; St. Michael Indian School; Tonalea Day School; Tuba City Boarding School, Tuba City Junior High and Tsehootsooi Middle School.

Admission is $5 per person. Children 3 years-old and under are free of charge. Arizona Interscholastic Association passes are honored.

2A NORTH CROSS COUNTRY REGIONALS

Pinon High School is the host for the 2A North Cross Country Regionsls.

A coaches' meeting is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. in the school's art room.

The girl's race begins at 10 a.m., followed by the boy's race at 10:30 a.m.

A medal will be presented to the top 15 finishers in the girl's and boy's racers. A championship traveling trophy, plaque and hoodies will be presented to the team champions. Team runner-up receive long sleeved tee shirts.

Admission is $5 per person. Arizona Interscholastic Association passes are honored.
